    MOHAP License: The Complete Guide

Getting licensed to practise healthcare in Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah or Umm Al Quwain runs through the UAE Ministry of Health & Prevention. Here's the full process, step by step.

    What is MOHAP licensing?

MOHAP (the Ministry of Health & Prevention) is the UAE's federal health authority, responsible for licensing healthcare professionals in the Northern Emirates — Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain. It's a separate authority from DHA (Dubai) and DOH, formerly HAAD (Abu Dhabi) — each Emirate-level authority runs its own licensing process, though all three share the UAE's Unified Healthcare Professionals Qualification Requirements.

The MOHAP licensing process, step by step

    • Create an account on the MOHAP licensing portal and complete your profile.
    • Submit your qualifications, license and experience for DataFlow primary-source verification.
    • Once DataFlow clears, MOHAP issues an eligibility ID confirming you're approved to book your exam.
    • Use your eligibility ID to book your exam slot directly with Prometric.
    • On passing, MOHAP issues an eligibility letter, which converts into an active MOHAP license once you secure a job offer.

The attempt limit that makes preparation matter more

MOHAP allows a maximum of three exam attempts — and, importantly, a cancelled booking or a no-show counts as one of those three attempts, not just a failed sitting. This is stricter than some other Gulf authorities, so walking into your first attempt genuinely prepared matters more here than for exams with effectively unlimited retakes.

If you exhaust all three MOHAP attempts, some candidates pursue licensing through a different UAE authority instead — whether that's a viable path depends on your specific circumstances, so confirm directly with the relevant authority rather than assuming.
